Friends of the Urban Forest (FUF) is a non-profit organization based in San Francisco that plants and maintains trees within the city of San Francisco and its surroundings.

The name “FOUREST” was derived from the phrase “For Our Forest”, and also plays off of the four key values of the organization: Greening, community engagement, education, and advocacy. The new logo conceptually represents the connection and unity of neighbors in San Francisco, reinforcing their mission statement “To bring neighbors together to plant and care for San Francisco’s ideal urban forest.”

The logo is dynamic, always shifting while staying connected. In digital applications, the letters respond to the current weather in San Francisco: F refers to temperature, O refers to wind, U refers Humidity, R refers to clouds.

DIGITAL FOUREST

DIGITAL FOUREST is a sub-brand under FOUREST based on an online event space as a way to fundraise for FOUREST, selling seeds, bare roots, and curating events.

The reinterpretation of plants is the main theme of DIGITAL FOUREST, using digital technology to create a dynamic painting depicting vivid imagery of plants in colorful 3D form.

The cyber garden is their first pop-up exhibition, with both a digital and physical version of the space. The 3D forms of plants conceal and reveal questions about plants, striving to give younger urbanites a new sense of the vitality of life in the natural world, and a chance to learn about plants.
